The

This

Within the city of Kitchener, much has alreadyÌýbeen done to establish the presence of urban design at the human scale, toÌýintegrate contemporary ideas into the design of buildings, and to enhanceÌýhistoric natural retreats likeÌýVictoria Park. However, little has been done toÌýintegrate the expanded opportunities for new design of work and livingÌýopportunities in the city center with the proposal of a new intermodal transitÌýhub in the heart of that growingÌýdowntown core.
Ìý
The combination of both of those aspects will look at how to create a healthy,Ìýpeople-oriented public environment that will also transfer people from one modeÌýof transit to another. With the surrounding new mixed-useÌýdevelopments and theÌýheritage architecture of Kitchener’s industrial past, the case studyÌýdemonstrates the typical situation facing most urban centres undertakingÌýtransit expansion in Ontario.
