Congratulations to five graduate students in Applied Mathematics who have been selected as recipients of the Ontario Graduate Scholarships (OGS) or the Queen Elizabeth II Graduate Scholarship in Science and Technology (QEII-GSST) in the 2025-2026 competition. The OGS and QEII-GSST are prestigious awards given in recognition of academic excellence, research potential, and leadership qualities.
Four of the recipients were in the domestic competition, for which a total of 196 scholarships were awarded across all Faculties at the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ. These students are:
- Cameron Kerr (OGS, supervisors: Chris Bauch and Madhur Anand)
- Ireneo James Membrere (OGS, supervisor: Eduardo Martin-Martinez)
- Ivan Shevchenko (OGS, supervisor: Xinzhi Liu)
- Boris Ragula (QEII-GSST, supervisor: Eduardo Martin-Martinez)
The fifth recipient, Zohreh (Zoya) Abbasi (supervisor: Xinzhi Liu), was selected from the international competition, in which the University grants only five awards annually. This is the second consecutive year that Zoya has been awarded the highly competitive international OGS, a particularly remarkable achievement.
