Congratulations to Water Institute members Philippe Van Cappellen, Norman ZhouÌýand Sherry Schiff,Ìýthree of the five À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ researchers to recently receive a combined total of $3 millionÌýfrom the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC).Ìý

The researchers and their water-related projects are:

Philippe Van(Earth and Environmental Sciences):ÌýReactive interfaces in agroecosystems: quantifying coupled biogeochemical dynamics across scales using a comprehensive lab-field-modeling approach.

Norman ZhouÌý(Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering):ÌýDegradation of emerging water contaminants using novel photocatalytic 3D-printed TiO2 nano-architectures: a case for algal toxins found in harmful algal blooms.

Sherry SchiffÌý(Earth and Environmental Sciences):ÌýNatural stable isotopes of iron: a new tool to trace Fe cycling for management of risk from harmful cyanobacterial blooms in lakes and reservoirs.

The researchersÌýwill receive funding over three years through the program.
