Shahan is a PhD candidate at the School of Public Health Sciences at the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ. His research interests are focused on the design, development, and implementation of public health surveillance technologies. He is particularly interested in harnessing artificial intelligence (AI)-based ecosystems to generate novel (big) data streams for (digital) epidemiological purposes. Shahan obtained his MSc from Western University in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, where he was involved in a multidisciplinary effort to develop a virtual reality (VR)-based simulation for rehabilitation. Shahan has been awarded the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) Doctoral Scholarship for his research at the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ.
