UPDATE: As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, the University of ��ݮ��Ƶ is taking steps to limit the spread of the disease in our community. With caution and concern for our alumni, we have made the difficult decision to move your class Reunion events online. While we can’t reconnect in the way we planned in person on campus, we hope you will join us for a variety of virtual class reunion events on September 25 and 26, 2020.

The ��ݮ��Ƶ Engineering alumni class reunion in 2020 is taking place on September 26, 2020 on Alumni Weekend. The engineering Classes of 1960, 1965, 1970, 1975, 1980, 1985, 1990, 1995, 2000, 2005, 2010 and 2015 are invited to celebrate this milestone in their engineering career.

Join your engineering classmates for a day of reconnecting with classmates, watching an address from our new Dean, Mary Wells, and guest lecture from Professor Larry Smith. For more details and a schedule for our virtual event, see the faculty event posting.

Join us at the Social Impact Showcase on December 5th, where we will be celebrating the diversity of our GreenHouse innovators and their journeys in social innovation and entrepreneurship. We will be announcing grants for some early-stage, high-potential ideas, and the Social Impact Fund winners will be sharing their stories.

The Social Impact Showcase promises to be an engaging event and an excellent opportunity to connect with our social ventures and network with other members of the social innovation community.

The proliferation of AI has placed increased focus on the thorny topic of ethics: to what extent are engineers responsible for—and to what extent can they encode—the ethical behavior of the AI applications they design?

From the contrived trolley car problem to real-world scenarios such as autonomous vehicle fatalities, questions of responsibility, autonomy, and trust pervade prevailing discussions around the rapidly advancing capabilities of such systems.

In this talk, DarwinAI CEO Sheldon Fernandez (BASc '01) will draw on his degrees in both engineering and theology to separate fact from fad in ensuring that artificial systems behave ethically.

Join us for what is sure to be a fascinating discussion on an important, multidisciplinary topic.

Pearl Sullivan, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, the Registrar's Office, Engineering Alumni Affairs and the Office of Alumni Relations are pleased to invite you and your guests to an informal complimentary post-convocation reception.

Join us at the Student Life Centre in the Great Hall to celebrate your milestone achievement! The receptions start right after each convocation ceremony.

Post-Convocation reception following the morning ceremony:

12 noon to 1:30 p.m. (approx.); the reception immediately follows the morning convocation ceremony

Post-Convocation reception following the afternoon ceremony:

4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. (approx.); the reception immediately follows the afternoon convocation ceremony

Post-Convocation reception following the evening ceremony:

8:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. (approx.); the reception immediately follows the evening convocation ceremony

Each complimentary reception includes refreshments and light snacks. Registration is not required!
