Commissioner | Planning, Development and Legislative Services Regional Municipality of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ
Rod Regier, Commissioner of Planning, Development and Legislative Services (PDLS) with the Regional Municipality of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ, received an Honours Bachelor degree in Geography at the University of Winnipeg, and a Masters in Regional Planning at the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ.
After graduating from À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ, Rod worked briefly with the Region of Hamilton-Wentworth in planning policy; then for 16 years with the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador in various capacities: municipal planning, regional economic development and provincial economic policy with a special focus on dialogue between business, labour and government on provincial competitiveness in global markets.
For 11 years, Rod provided leadership to a staff team and community of stakeholders implementing the Kitchener’s economic development strategy . During that time, the City became known as a dynamic centre for innovation in the Toronto À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ Region Corridor.
In 2015/16 Rod was a member of the Policy Unit on Urban Economic Development Strategies for UN Habitat III which produced a . At the Region of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ, PDLS includes Planning, Economic Development, À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ Region International Airport (YKF), Cultural Services (Museums and Libraries), Legal Services, Legislative Services and Provincial Offences Act administration. Off line, his recreation passion is hang gliding.
