Up to four awards, valued at $2,500 each, will be available annually to full-time undergraduate students enrolled in Year Two, Three, or Four in any program in the Faculty of Engineering who are participating in an exchange program between UW and a partner institution in Germany or Austria or a low-paying co-op work term in Germany or Austria. Preference will be given to candidates pursuing an exchange program as well as to students who demonstrate financial need for the term(s) abroad. Candidates must have a minimum overall average of 75%. Upon their return, recipients are encouraged to provide a summary (1-2 page maximum) of their experience abroad to be shared with the donor and which may be published in an online journal to inspire other students to participate in an experiential endeavour in Germany or Austria. Interested applicants must complete the general International Experience Award application by July 15 or November 15. This fund is made possible by a donation from Dr. Marga Weigel, a proud UW alumna to encourage engineering students to pursue exchange opportunities in Germany or Austria, and to enhance their knowledge of European thought and culture.

The University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ acknowledges that much of our work takes place on the traditional territory of the Neutral, Anishinaabeg, and Haudenosaunee peoples. Our main campus is situated on the Haldimand Tract, the land granted to the Six Nations that includes six miles on each side of the Grand River. Our active work toward reconciliation takes place across our campuses through research, learning, teaching, and community building, and is co-ordinated within the Office of Indigenous Relations.
