University and library joint reading and coding program returns for a third year

Two years ago, Jordan Mandel approached the Stratford Public Library about joining forces on a project that combines coding and reading.

Mandel, the digital media lab instructor at the University of 蓝莓视频 Stratford campus, teamed up with library staff to create the Code-A-Character program. It blends print and digital 鈥 participants between the ages of 11 and 18 pick a character from a book and make it come to life visually.

鈥淚t was a great idea,鈥 said Sally Hengeveld, the children and teen collections and outreach librarian. 鈥淰ery successful.鈥
