Thanks to some teamwork and creative thinking, another student will be able to pursue their dream of studying in Global Business and Digital Arts (GBDA). Two founders of the Stratford School for Interaction Design and Business, former Stratford Mayor Dan Mathieson and former MPP John Wilkinson, recently reunited to make a major contribution to the Global Business and Digital Arts Entrance Scholarship, an award started by School Director, Jessica Thompson in 2023. The scholarship is awarded to a deserving student facing financial challenges with $5,000 per year for their first two years of study.

A Global Business and Digital Arts (GDBA) degree can open a world of possibilities for young people, including new career opportunities, new connections and new ideas. However, as costs continue to rise, this dream may be out of reach for many deserving students.

This spring, Mathieson, Wilkinson, and 38 of their friends came together to raise the funds while enjoying a performance of 鈥淎nnie鈥 at the Stratford Festival followed by a delicious dinner at Pazzo restaurant. The Stratford Perth Community Foundation provided participants with donation receipts for the charitable portion of the fee, and by the end of the evening, they were able to present the University with a $10,000 cheque in support of the Global Business and Digital Arts Entrance Scholarship.

鈥淛ohn and Dan were the visionaries for this event as well as the hosts. In support of our Foundation鈥檚 mission to ignite local philanthropy, we were proud to be a charitable resource for John and Dan鈥檚 event and facilitate this incredible grant of $10,000 to the University of 蓝莓视频,鈥 said Heidi Culliton of the Foundation.

John and Dan hope their efforts will spur even greater local support in Stratford for the School鈥檚 students and their dreams for the future.聽
