 on mouse\nmodels. The inferential consequences of the widespread use of mo
 use\nmodels are discussed\, and the modern application of this model is\ni
 ntroduced as a problem of measuring pairwise associations in a large\ndata
  set. A broad algebraic framework for this model and others like\nit is us
 ed to demonstrate several results and suggest future avenues\nof investiga
