DESCRIPTION:Dr. Malhotra explores the possibilities of a Castoriadan readi
 ng of\ncrip time for reinterpreting the duty to accommodate disabled worke
 rs.\nWhile there is a growing literature on crip time\, or how disabled\np
 eople experience time\, much of this literature is not grounded in a\nmate
 rialist understanding of the oppression of disabled people.\nBuilding on t
 he work of scholars such as Mike Oliver\, Colin Barnes\,\nand Marta Russel
 l\, Dr. Malhotra suggests that a Castoriadan reading\nhas profound implica
 tions for developing what he calls a crip time\nfrom below. This holds out
  promise to develop a duty to accommodate\nthat can more robustly facilita
 te the inclusion and empowerment of\ndisabled workers.    \n\nThe Joint
  Legal Studies Seminar Series features biannual seminars\nshowcasing a ran
 ge of legal studies scholarship. The series is hosted\nby the Departments 
 of Sociology and Legal Studies at the University of\n��ݮ��Ƶ and St. Jero
 me’s University.
