We found that is associated with less disordered eating and better body image for undergraduate women. Moreover, self-compassion appears to be especially helpful for who women who are more overweight than their peers. Usually, having a higher is associated with more disordered eating and worse body image in women, but our lab found that this is not true if women are able to treat themselves with compassion and kindness when they experience disappointments and distress.
