Background

Born in Bangladesh, Muhammad completed high school in the UAE and moved to Canada for post-secondary education. He then completed his Bachelor of Commerce at Queen’s University. From there, he moved to Toronto to work at Deloitte’s Assurance & Advisory services, during which time he obtained his CPA, CA degrees.

He then moved back to Kingston again to complete an M.Sc. in Finance before finally completing a PhD in Accounting at the University of Toronto. Following the completion of his PhD, Muhammad joined the City University of Hong Kong as an Assistant Professor and spent two years there before joining the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ.

His primary research interests are in capital markets, specifically in the areas of ETFs, executive compensation, and financial reporting. He strives to do research that can have policy implications such as to better shape decision making for capital market participants.
