Embedding sustainability across SAF programs
The School of Accounting and Finance (SAF) is proud to collaborate with the 蓝莓视频 Climate Institute and Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) on the Accelerating Climate Change Education for the Next Generation of Professionals initiative. Supported by $1.2 million in funding for climate adaptation action, this project marks a pivotal step in equipping Canada鈥檚 future professionals to tackle climate challenges.
This initiative focuses on developing impactful course materials that integrate climate change adaptation into professional programs, with the ultimate goal of embedding sustainability into all SAF programs through The Hub for Sustainability Integration.聽The NRCan project supports two of the three pillars of The Hub: Student Consultancy and Professional Development.
SAF鈥檚 contributions to this initiative are being led by Dr. Adam Vitalis, who is also a key faculty member in SAF鈥檚 innovative Hub for Sustainability Integration and Bachelor of Sustainability and Financial Management (BSFM) program, which prepares students to address challenges at the intersection of climate resilience and corporate strategy.
鈥淭his project underscores the importance of integrating climate change considerations into investments and accounting practices, ensuring future professionals are equipped to drive sustainable financial decisions that support climate resilience,鈥 says Blake Phillips, Director of SAF.
SAF is excited to contribute to this transformative effort, positioning its students and programs at the forefront of sustainability and finance leadership.
