Hi, I’m Lisa, a third-year AFM student. During my time at À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ, I’ve been very lucky to have plenty of personal, professional, and academic opportunities for learning and growth.
During my time, I’ve also learned the importance of connections. Before I started my university studies, I didn’t fully understand the impact and advantage of building connections. Being in a co-op program, SAF students are very lucky to have amazing job opportunities, but it’s also important to know when and what networking events to attend, how to create a strong résumé and more – and that’s just from a professional perspective!
I’ve picked up many of these tips and tricks from my own mentors, mostly upper-year AFM students, and as a mentor, I have been able to share these with my mentees. While my mentors haven’t had the exact experiences I have, they have been in my shoes, and they can share how they approached and managed the challenges they had to faced.
I wanted to leave you with a few tips, and then hopefully you can share them with others!
- Every À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ student is assigned an email address, however, you can also create a ‘friendly’ email address. This is a quick way to get a great professional email address!
- You can view the list of all the courses available for the current and upcoming terms, and review the course descriptions. This is super helpful when picking electives!
- The best place to find out what textbooks you need is the feature offered by the WStore. Trying to save money on textbooks? You can always try as an alternative!
