First Ph.D. in SEED awarded to Amr ElAlfy

Amr ElAlfy has been awarded the first Ph.D. in the School of Environment, Enterprise and Development (SEED). He successfully defended his thesis on September 16th, 2020. Entitled 鈥溾, the dissertation provides a novel contribution to the applications of AI (Artificial Intelligence) and Machine learning (ML) in sustainability by applying social media analytics tools to examine 鈥榟ow鈥 and 鈥榳hy鈥 corporations report on their CSR strategies in the SDGs era to enhance their operational legitimacy.

Amr began his Ph.D. in Fall 2016 under the supervision of Olaf Weber and Sean Geobey. Prior to his PhD, he worked in business development and corporate social responsibility roles at 狈别蝉迟濒茅 and 3M. Amr has been able to publish four papers from his PhD work, and a fifth paper has already been submitted to a journal. His plans are to start a post doctoral position in October and work towards an academic career. Congratulations Dr. ElAlfy!
