I am seeking a current upper-year student or recent graduate to help me design and build a website for my new lab, The Collaboratory (aka "Co-Lab"), and to craft a social media strategy to increase the broader impact of Co-Lab's research. (For context, I am an associate professor in Knowledge Integration, studying interdisciplinary collaboration.)
JOB DETAILS
* Â Start date: Negotiable, but sometime between early December 2021 and early January 2022.Â
* Â Length of position: 4-6 months, with the possibility of an extension through next summer.Â
* Â Hours: 5-10 hours/week (NOTE: students taking a full course load are limited to 5 hrs/week)
* Â Salary: $25 per hour
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Â Meet with me, Dr. Katie Plaisance, and other Co-Lab members to discuss potential designs for the website
* Â Design, build, and (temporarily) maintain a website for Co-LabÂ
* Â Create design documentation for the website
* Â Ensure that the website and any posted materials or content are AODA compliant
* Â Develop a social media strategy to help Co-Lab more broadly disseminate our workÂ
* Â Write up a set of recommendations and guidelines for social media use
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
* Â Ability to design and build a website in WordPress (ideally, with experience doing so for other individuals or businesses)Â
* Â Knowledge of how to create design documentation
* Â Familiarity with accessible digital design practices and AODA compliance
* Â Ability to take the initiative to identify essential tasks and work independently
* Â Strong project management skills
* Â Careful attention to detail
* Â Excellent communication skills, including the ability to teach others how to use and update the website
ADDITIONAL SKILLS (IDEAL, BUT NOT REQUIRED)
* Â Proficiency with Microsoft Office (including Microsoft Teams and OneDrive)
* Â Graphic design (e.g., to create a logo for Co-Lab or help us create infographics)
* Â Experience using Canva or other design-based platformsÂ
* Â Familiarity with Search Engine Optimization
