Previously, Yamamura solved the case where no extra conditions are imposed, and Bhargava, Shankar, and Wang proved that the global density of general monic integer polynomials (of fixed degree) with squarefree discriminant is equal to the product of the local densities.</p> <p>Our main case of interest is when the first two non-leading coefficients are fixed. However, we also obtain results on other cases, such as the case where the constant coefficient is fixed. Moreover, the technique used here allows us to compute the local densities exactly.</p> <p>This talk is based on the recent preprint: https://arxiv.org/abs/2505.06820</p> <p>MC 5417</p> </div> </div> </div> </div> </section> Fri, 20 Jun 2025 14:14:32 +0000 Edd Gent 3434 at /pure-mathematics Dynamics and Ramsey learning seminar /pure-mathematics/events/dynamics-and-ramsey-learning-seminar-3 <span class="field field--name-title field--type-string field--label-hidden">Dynamics and Ramsey learning seminar</span> <span class="field field--name-uid field--type-entity-reference field--label-hidden"><span lang="" about="/pure-mathematics/users/egent" typeof="schema:Person" property="schema:name" datatype="" xml:lang="">Edd Gent</span></span> <span class="field field--name-created field--type-created field--label-hidden">Mon, 06/16/2025 - 14:43</span> <section class="uw-contained-width uw-section-spacing--default uw-section-separator--none uw-column-separator--none layout layout--uw-1-col"><div class="layout__region layout__region--first"> <div class="uw-text-align--left block block-layout-builder block-inline-blockuw-cbl-copy-text"> <div class="uw-copy-text"> <div class="uw-copy-text__wrapper "> <p><strong>Andy Zucker, University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ</strong></p> <p><em>Dynamical Partite Construction</em></p> <p>We revisit the partite construction using some of the dynamical ideas we have developed.</p> <p>MC 5417</p> </div> </div> </div> </div> </section> Mon, 16 Jun 2025 18:43:04 +0000 Edd Gent 3432 at /pure-mathematics Differential Geometry Working Seminar /pure-mathematics/events/differential-geometry-working-seminar-148 <span class="field field--name-title field--type-string field--label-hidden">Differential Geometry Working Seminar</span> <span class="field field--name-uid field--type-entity-reference field--label-hidden"><span lang="" about="/pure-mathematics/users/egent" typeof="schema:Person" property="schema:name" datatype="" xml:lang="">Edd Gent</span></span> <span class="field field--name-created field--type-created field--label-hidden">Mon, 06/16/2025 - 10:01</span> <section class="uw-contained-width uw-section-spacing--default uw-section-separator--none uw-column-separator--none layout layout--uw-1-col"><div class="layout__region layout__region--first"> <div class="uw-text-align--left block block-layout-builder block-inline-blockuw-cbl-copy-text"> <div class="uw-copy-text"> <div class="uw-copy-text__wrapper "> <p><strong>Spiro Karigiannis, University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ</strong></p> <p><em>Unique continuation in geometry (conclusion)</em></p> <p>I will finish discussing the paper by Jerry Kazdan on unique continuation in geometry.
