The Faculty of Applied Health Sciences hosted representatives of Uganda Christian University (UCU) on campus in ݮƵ to commemorate a new collaboration to build education and research capacity in the areas of public health, water-health, and health informatics.
ݮƵ professor John Garcia is collaborating with the Government of Nunavut and Inuit communities on a tobacco control strategy for the territory. He states that “The Government of Nunavut identified a whole series of priorities” in public health and tobacco control is high on the list.
Too many Canadian kids, including tots under the age of five, are spending too much time glued to TV, computers and video games and it'll take a concerted effort by parents, caregivers and others to get them moving more, say health experts and advocates.
The University of ݮƵ is to award 16 honorary degrees at spring convocation. Amongst the 16 recipients is Monique Bégin, a former federal politician and architect of Canada's health care act.
