Make a Difference (MAD) Market is a one-day artisan and craft holiday market held at Conrad Grebel University College on December 2, 2023. Hosted by the Peace and Conflict Studies (PACS) Undergrad Society, all funds collected from participating vendors, the silent auction, and the suggested $2 entry contribution will be donated to A Better Tent City, ��ݮ��Ƶ. Fill your car with family and friends to make a difference while shopping for this holiday season!

ABTC began as a low barrier/housing first approach to provide an opportunity to move people experiencing homelessness from dangerous conditions on the streets into a more safe and supportive community with protection from the environment, access to hygiene and sanitation facilities, and connection to services and healthcare on a path to stable housing.

Our Convocation Celebration will take place on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at 2 pm at the Theatre of the Arts, Modern Languages Building. This celebration is for all students who have or are completing studies and plan to graduate in Fall 2022, Winter 2023, Spring 2023 or Fall 2023.

Grebel Convocation Celebration will take place at two locations in-person. Students and two of their invited guests will celebrate at The Theatre of the Arts, this event will be professionally filmed and live-streamed back to the Grebel dining room where additional guests will take part in a virtual community celebration. The event will also be available on YouTube for those guests who wish to join from home.

Seating is available at in-person events by registration only. Registration is available on Eventbrite. Each graduating student is permitted two tickets to the Theatre of the Arts, if additional seats are available on April 1, they will be released to those who have registered for the live stream event at Grebel.

Following the celebration guests and students will join together at Grebel for a dessert reception and visiting, guests are welcome to enjoy being in the Grebel space that has been their student's educational home the last few years.

We are excited to celebrate this milestone in our students' lives, we look forward to seeing you in person or online as we celebrate the achievements of our Class of 2023.

Note:

All students intending to Graduation from the University of ��ݮ��Ƶ and Conrad Grebel must complete BOTH the University of ��ݮ��Ƶ Intention to Graduate form AS WELL AS the Conrad Grebel Convocation Form by March 1, 2023.

To be considered for or to participate in the selection of Grebel's 2023 undergraduate Valedictorian, you must submit Grebel's Convocation form by March 1.

This exhibition includes photos of street art pieces from a range of conflict-affected societies and an opportunity to leave your own ‘mark’ on the gallery walls as part of an interactive portion of the gallery. Come explore topics of resistance, political communication, commemoration, and identity expression.

Street art makes an important contribution to understanding local conflict-dynamics and visions of peace. Art created on public walls, signs and structures can reveal narratives about everyday concerns and opinions. It expresses multiple and often contradicting narratives by different artists and communities, which is especially valuable in situations of conflict and censorship.

This exhibit will be open until April 30, 2023.

The Peace and Conflict Studies Department and Grebel Student Services are inviting you to participate in the Mennonite Central Committee's Blanket Exercise Event to observe Peace Week. Drinking water and snacks will be provided.

Registration required: Maximum of 40 participants. Deadline: 1 pm, September 22, 2022.

About the Blanket Exercise

The KAIROS Blanket Exercise is a workshop that explores the nation-to-nation relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in Canada. Blankets arranged on the floor represent land and participants are invited to step into the roles of First Nations, Inuit and later Métis peoples. The workshop helps people to understand how the colonization of this land impacts those who were here long before settlers arrived. It engages people’s minds and hearts in understanding why the relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples is often broken and how we can take action together (source: KAIROS Canada).

Life during the pandemic has been challenging for everyone. During this period, the harsh realities of oppression and racism were cruelly unveiled in front of our eyes. The question of how we move forward is often asked, and difficult to answer.

View our newest Grebel gallery exhibit, Unmasking, Breathing, Moving Forward, from September 6 to December 16, 2022. This exhibit is comprised of 17 Black, Indigenous, and racialized artists responding to their experiences during COVID-19. Unmasking aims to offer insights into a way forward that is perceptive to marginalized voices.

Join us on September 21, 2022 @7pm EST for the launch of the Unmasking, Breathing, Moving Forward exhibit at the Grebel Gallery.
