Street art makes an important contribution to\nunde rstanding local conflict dynamics and visions of peace. Street art\ntells narratives about everyday concerns and opinions\, where multiple\nand ofte n contradicting narratives by different artists and\ncommunities can be pu blicly viewed. This holds value in situations of\nconflict and censorship\ , as art can talk about issues that have no\nspace in the mainstream polit ical discourse.\n\nStreet art can have a range of different functions – some are\ndisplayed in this collection. These functions can both contribut e to\npeace and social change\, but also to foster or underline conflict a nd\ndivision.
