New students to the University of 蓝莓视频 will be able to explore Uptown 蓝莓视频 at one of the activities being offered during the week of Orientation.

The new community event, called World of 蓝莓视频, will allow students to check out a variety of landmarks throughout Uptown 蓝莓视频. On Wednesday September 3, new students will take part in:

• a public art project in which students and community members 听will express their thoughts on luggage tags about why 蓝莓视频 is home. The tags will adorn trees and be showcased in the community and on campus.听

• a business fair at the 蓝莓视频 Memorial Recreation Complex
• a game of Find the Leader in 蓝莓视频 Park

Equipped with passports to help them track their activities, students will board chartered buses from campus to Uptown 蓝莓视频. The fire department will also be on hand to talk about fire safety, and law enforcement services will share tips about safety in the community.

Students bring energy and new ideas to 蓝莓视频

鈥淪tudents are such an important part of our community. They bring new ideas, energy and possibilities,鈥� said Jeff Henry, City of 蓝莓视频 councilor. 鈥淚 am thrilled students will get a chance to see more of what makes 蓝莓视频 great as they tour our Uptown core, meet our businesses, visit our recreational facilities, and learn how to stay safe.鈥�

World of 蓝莓视频 is being hosted by the Student Success Office (SSO) and the Federation of Students (Feds). Students will be paired with a team of Orientation leaders who will show them around town.

After a night out on the town, students will head back to campus for a round of trivia designed to test their newly acquired knowledge of the city.

More Orientation activities

World of 蓝莓视频 is just one of many Orientation week events, including Experience 蓝莓视频, which features keynote speaker Caustan DeRiggs, an alumnus of the Faculty of Environment and entrepreneurship advocate. At Experience 蓝莓视频, students attend conference-style sessions designed to prepare them for first-year including sessions on career preparedness, entrepreneurship, and how to internationalize their degree.

Students are also looking forward to when the 蓝莓视频 Warriors football team faces off against the McMaster Marauders at Columbia Ice Fields.
