It is with deep sadness that the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ must confirm that a first year student was struck and killed by lightning while walking on campus this morning, Friday, September 5, 2014.

The incident took place on a pathway leading from the ring road to an area of residences known as Student Village 1 at around 9 a.m. The student died of their injuries in hospital.

À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ Regional Police are in the process of notifying the family. Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the student at this most difficult of times.
