Nanotechnology Engineering alumni Samer Kurdi (BASc 鈥12) is participating in the , which is taking place in Lindau, Germany, between June 30 and July 5, 2019.
The annual Lindau Nobel Laureate meetings focus alternately on physiology and medicine, physics, and chemistry 鈥 the three natural science Nobel Prize disciplines.聽This year鈥檚 meeting is dedicated to physics.
The meeting, intended to foster exchange among scientists of different generations, cultures and disciplines, is attended by 39 Nobel Laureates, including University of 蓝莓视频鈥檚 2018 laureate in physics, Donna Strickland, and 580 international young scientists from 89 countries. All of the young scientists are under the age of 35 and went through an extensive selection process before being chosen to participate.
Each Lindau Meeting鈥檚 scientific program is based on the principle of dialogue. The lectures, discussions, Master Classes and panel discussions are designed to activate the exchange of knowledge, ideas and experience between and among Nobel Laureates and young scientists. The key topics for this year鈥檚 meeting include dark matter and cosmology, laser physics and gravitational waves.

Samer Kurdi, Nanotechnology Engineering Class of 鈥12, was selected to participate in the 69th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting.
After graduating from 蓝莓视频鈥檚 NE program, Samer earned his Master鈥檚 degree in Functionalized Advanced Materials and Engineering at Technische Universit盲t Darmstadt before pursuing his PhD in the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy at University of Cambridge. His research is based upon overcoming capacity limits in conventional memory devices, due to restrictions on further miniaturization.
