The two-stage system comprises anaerobic fixation of CO2 and\nco nversion of the CO2 fixation product (for example\, acetate) to\nlipids\, from which biodiesel can be produced. In another application\,\nthe CO2  fixation product is converted to alkanes. His work includes\nboth the engi neering of the microbes _and _development of a process\nto achieve gas-t o-liquid conversion in prototype systems. These\nsystems are scalable\, ma ke no use of land (beyond what is needed for\ngenerating renewable electri city for hydrogen production)\, do not\ncompete with food and are cost-com petitive based on high-level cost\nanalysis. Dr. Stephanopoulos will prese nt the essential features of\nthis process.\n DTSTAMP:20250518T122545Z END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT UID:6829d1c9d0c61 DTSTART;TZID=America/Toronto:20230412T110000 SEQUENCE:0 TRANSP:TRANSPARENT DTEND;TZID=America/Toronto:20230412T120000 URL:/nanotechnology-engineering/events/advanced-lithium -ion-battery-and-beyond-enabling-mass SUMMARY:Advanced Lithium-ion Battery and Beyond for Enabling Mass\nElectrif ication of Vehicles CLASS:PUBLIC DESCRIPTION:Summary \n\nThe À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ Institute for Nanotechnology (WIN) is pleased to present\na Distinguished Lecture by Dr. Khalil Amine\, Argonne Distinguished\nFellow and the leader of the Advanced Battery Technology te am at\nArgonne National Laboratory.\n DTSTAMP:20250518T122545Z END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT UID:6829d1c9d1573 DTSTART;TZID=America/Toronto:20230412T153000 SEQUENCE:0 TRANSP:TRANSPARENT DTEND;TZID=America/Toronto:20230412T163000 URL:/nanotechnology-engineering/events/sustainable-futu re-perspectives-series-recylcing-battery SUMMARY:Sustainable Future Perspectives Series| Recylcing battery materials :\nAiming for net zero CLASS:PUBLIC DESCRIPTION:Summary \n\nThe Department of Chemical Engineering (ChE) and th e À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ\nInstitute for Nanotechnology (WIN) are partnering to organize a series\nof discourses on technology-based solutions to global challenges \nlinked to UN Sustainable Development Goals.\n\nWe are pleased to present the second discourse in our series:\n_Recycling materials for the battery : Aiming Net Zero._\n\nIn this event\, Khalil Amine\, an Argonne Distingui shed Fellow and the\nleader of the Advanced Battery Technology team at Arg onne National\nLaboratory\, will be joined by Prof. Zhongwei Chen (ChE) an d Prof.\nMichael Fowler (ChE).\n\nPlease join us in Faculty Hall\, (E7-730 3/7363) from 3:30 - 4:30pm.\nRegistration is required!
