Balinese gamelan (semara dana)ÌýÌýareÌýensembles of primarily percussiveÌýinstruments made of bronze and bamboo that may include drums, flutes, strings, and voice. AnÌýoral tradition taught and learned collectively, repertoireÌýis transmitted in a group setting without the use of sheet music. Directed by Balinese artistÌýI Dewa Made Suparta, students experience a communal process ofÌýcreating musicÌýwhile alsoÌýlearning aboutÌýthe culture of Bali.Ìý
The University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ has had a Balinese Gamelan Ensemble since 2013, and we are privileged to perform at the City of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ Campfire series.Ìý If you are interested in joining the Ensemble, please visit our website.Ìý Both a student Gamelan and a Community Gamelan are available in Fall 2023.
