Clinical psychology graduate students Jessica Edwards, Katie Finch and Fatima Wasif presented an amazing workshop on Stress Management for Athletes on April 25, 2023, to the elite competitive swimmers of the Club Warriors Swim Club. 

Clinical psychology graduate students Jasmine Zhang, Charlotte Aitken, and Aliya McNeil presented an interactive workshop on Teens and Social Relationships on April 21, 2023 for guidance counsellors and educators with the À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ Region District School Board. 

Clinical psychology graduate students from the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ Rebecca Trossman, Mahsa Sadeghi Janbahan, and Aleece Katan developed and presented an engaging, informative, and interactive workshop on brain-based factors for health aging to a capacity crowd of 40 seniors at the Forest Height Public Library.  The presentation reviewed normative age-related changes in brain functioning, tips to promote brain health across the lifespan, and behavioural signs that additional assessment may be warranted.  Audience response was highly positive and lively, with many contribution

Laura Colucci, Carla Rumeo, Jenessa Shaw, and Fatima Wasif presented an informative and engaging workshop on Mental Health 101 to individuals working in a not-for-profit organization. The event was hosted by the United Way in Winnipeg, Manitoba.  To aide in developing and tailoring the workshop, a pre-workshop survey was sent to participants and the results were integrated into the presentation. 40 participants were in attendance for the talk, held over Zoom.

Sydney Waring, Aleece Katan, Tyler Eschenwecker and Jasmine Zhang presented an excellent and engaging workshop on Mental Health 101 to individuals working in the legal profession including lawyers, paralegals, law clerks and assistants. The event was hosted by the À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ Region Law Society. 47 participants were in attendance for the talk, held over Zoom.

Workshop Summary

We are pleased to offer a Positive Parenting Program Group for parents of youth ages 12 to 16 years (Teen Triple P Level 4) provided through a virtual teletherapy format at the CMHRT this fall. 

In a , Dr. Dillon Browne and colleagues discuss their research on the mental health of children and families during the pandemic and highlight strategies that can help parents support their children as they return to the classroom.

The University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ was one of the first in Canada to have its own in-house training facility for their clinical psychology PhD program. Today, the Centre for Mental Health Research and Treatment celebrates 10 years of excellence in research, practice and treatment services on campus and in the regional community.
