Parkwood Manor was created by the United Church of Canada and the Evangelical United Brethren Conference in 1963 as a home for seniors. The first building was located on Cardinal Crescent in À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ.
In 1994 Parkwood Manor became a division of Fairview Mennoninte Home of Cambridge. The Cardinal Crescent location was too small for badly expansion, and the home's small size made it uneconomic as an independent institution.The connection to Mennonites was attractive as a number of residents were members of the À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ-Kitchener United Mennonite Church located in downtown À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ.
In April 2000 land was purchased on University Avenue East in À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ, across from the new RIM Park. The new Parkwood Mennonite Home opened in November 2004.
The fonds consists primarily of minutes from the Parkwood Manor days.
Custodial History: The fonds was donated to the Mennonite Archives of Ontario by Parkwood Mennonite Homes in April 2006..
