Biographical sketch: The Michael Schwartzentruber family was the first Amish family to arrive in the À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ region directly from Europe, in 1823. The family resided with Benjamin Eby in À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ Township until 1826, when they moved to Lot 9 on the south side of Snyder's Road, Wilmot Township. Schwartzentruber descendants lived on the farm for over 100 years.
Custodial history: These documents were in the possession of Elroy Swartzentruber in 2016 when they were loaned to Fred Lichti and the Archives for copying.
Scope and content: The fonds consists mostly of deeds transferring the land to various Schwartzentruber owners. Early citizenship documents are also included.
