The University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ has establishedÌýguidelines on useÌýof University computing and network resources. It outlines the rights and responsibilities of both the University and of you the user of those resources.Ìý
We elaborate on some of these further:
Accountability
- Your University computer account (UWuserid) is personal and to be usedÌýonly by you. No sharingÌýof this account with anyone else is allowed. Protect your password.
- You are accountable for the use of computing and other Information Technology (IT) resources accessed by your UWuserid.
Proper use
- You are expected to exercise reasonable restraint in the consumption of shared resources. This includes space for data and files, computational processing, network connectivity, and physical access to shared machines.Ìý
- Personal filesÌýkept on University owned computers/systems are your responsibility, no one else's, and should not take up so much space as to impede University business. There is no guarantee or obligation from Math Faculty Computing Facility (MFCF) that these be either backed up or restored, or even transferred from one device to another.
- Generic (shared) accounts (e.g.Ìýcombopt, pmugrad, ...) let several designated staff access to shared information. The shared account would be available to you through your personalÌýuserid. The creation of these accounts as well as their membership and privileges must be defined before they can be used.
