Accessing departmental shared file storage

SharePoint online:

    • you should only see folders that you have access to

Procedure for those still using Math provided share file space

Connecting from a Windows Computer

  • in Search, type: This PC
  • Computer menu > Map network drive
    • Folder field enter \\files.math.uwaterloo.ca\depts (for departmental/shared files)
    • Folder field enter \\files.math.uwaterloo.ca\UWuserid (for your personal file space)
  • click Reconnect at sign-in and Connect using different credentials, then click Finish
  • enter nexus\UWuserid and Nexus password
  • click Ok

Connecting from a Mac Computer

  • open Finder and hit command (cmd) + K (or click Go > Connect to Server from the top menu bar)
  • Server address: smb://files.math.uwaterloo.ca/depts (for departmental/shared files )
  • Server address: smb://files.math.uwaterloo.ca/UWuserid (for your personal file space)
  • click Connect
  • enter UWuserid and Nexus password
  • click Connect
  • right click on the image of the server on the desktop
  • click Make Alias to create a permanent icon on the desktop
