With over 100 alumni and current students in attendance, the MPS Fall Mixer was an excellent opportunity for current students to engage with others in the MPS community and learn more about what is in store for them after their academic terms. The annual event took place at the University of Toronto’s Hart House, where students and alumni networked and enjoyed a fun evening among friends, both new and old.

Anindya SenThe Master of Public Service program extends a warm welcome to Anindya Sen, who now officially joins MPS as Director. Professor Sen’s directorship of the program officially began on July 1, 2015. He is no stranger to MPS though, having been with the program since its very inception.

On Friday, May 29th, the MPS community gathered in Toronto for the program’s Spring Mixer event at the Bier Markt. Students and alumni, spanning five different cohorts, had the opportunity to reconnect over drinks and delicious food.

The evening was also a farewell celebration for Daniel Henstra who is wrapping up his final term as Program Director, after five years with MPS. His dedication, hard work, and leadership was recognized throughout the evening and more formally in speeches from MPS Program Officer, Sheila McConnell, and incoming MPS Director, Anindya Sen.

Amad Abdullah has embarked on a new adventure since graduating from the MPS program in 2014. When completing his co-op work term at the Ministry of Education in Toronto, he was inspired by one of the largest start-up hubs next door. He also noticed the large impact that support and fitness advice from colleagues played on his boss’ motivation to work out and shed pounds.

Starting their career journeys as co-op students, these MPSers gathered top-notch policy experience that helped them acquire post-graduation employment with the federal public service.
