Management engineering students Omar Atwa and Omkaar Kamath recently earned a first place finish at the , which was hosted virtually by the University of New Brunswick, Frederictorn.Ìý

Omar and Omkaar competed in the re-engineering competition, where"competitors must redesign an existing product or process to either improve its functionality or to adapt it for a completely new purpose".Ìý The designs are "judged based on functionality, practicality, feasibility, and marketability".

Management Sciences faculty members Fatma Gzara and Mehrdad Pirnia were recently featured in a webinar hosted by the À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ Institute for Sustainable Aeronautics (WISA). Professors Gzara and Pirnia joined a panel of speakers from industry and academia who are analyzing data to optimize various processes in aviation. A recording of the webinar is now available:

Management Sciences lecturer Ada Hurst and her co-authors Tiffany Bayley, an Assistant Professor at the Ivey Business School and David Wheatley, an Assistant Professor at the Lazaridis School of Business and Economics, were awarded the 2021 Best Research Paper award from the Decision Sciences Journal of Innovative Education (DSJIE).Ìý

Management Sciences professors Samir Elhedhli, Fatma Gzara, and Mehrdad Pirnia were recently featured in an informative event that delivered practical insights for industry on the application of artificial intelligence to address supply chain challenges.

Dr. Kourosh Malek, a Management Sciences PhD alumnus and currently Head of AI and Data Analytics at Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH was also a featured panelist.Ìý

Shoukry Saleh, a retired faculty member who helped build a À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ Engineering department, died on August 9 at the age of 91.

In 1968, he was one of four professors recruited by Archibald Sherburne, then dean of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ Engineering, to establish the Faculty’s management sciences department.

Instrumental to its launch the following year, Saleh served as department chair from September 1974 to August 1978.

Management Engineering and Management Sciences students have once again won top prizes  at the  student paper competition. They presented their papers at the 2021 CORS conference, held remotely.

Today the Faculty of Engineering has shared detailed and program specific class format plans for September 2021 with our incoming and current students.

Each department has posted details in a LEARN course for current undergraduate engineering students and in a TEAMS channel for current architecture students. These details are based on the information we shared with the Registrar’s Office, which is responsible for University-wide schedules and classroom space.

A management engineering student’s company has raised  to help fuel its Ontario expansion.

Aaron Paul and À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ science alumnus Jaden Pereira co-founded to connect couriers to retail clients that range from meal kit providers, florists and pharmacies.

The student team recently ran the third annual "I4 Case Competition". The compeititon reached 158 participants, organized in 36 teams from high-schools across Canada, who competed for $2000 in prize money.Ìý
