The Lipid Enzyme Discovery Lab possesses a genetic knockout (KO) model of a mouse lacking a unique phospholipid remodeling enzyme. Utilizing a variety of molecular, biochemical and behavioural techniques, Alex's MSc research aims to characterize the brain of this KO mouse model. The significance of this project will have implications not only on the specific in vivo function of this enzyme, but will further reveal the importance of phospholipid metabolism in the brain.
