Bertrand Laratte

Dr. Bertrand Laratte is an Associate Professor and Lecturer at I2M, the institute for deconstruction and reconstruction in mechanics, and the Bordeaux campus of Arts et Métiers, the premier engineering institute in France, established 1780. Bertrand’s research in mechanical and environmental engineering uses life cycle assessment (LCA), materials flow analysis (MFA), environmental indicators, and cumulative impact assessment. Recent work includes dynamic modelling on material resources and recycling of steel, aluminum and electronics waste.

Jair Santillán‐Saldivar

PhD 2021, for Sustainable Chemistry and Life-Cycle Assessment,

Supervisor at UݮƵ:Steven B. Young

Jair's research aims to extend the scope of assessing the substitution and recycling potentials to cover functional materials used in healthcare services. The proposed assessment will be conducted in an integrated way by evaluating criticality and environmental sustainability considerations jointly using life cycle assessment.

His thesis is developed in the framework of the University of Bordeaux Initiative of Excellence (IdEx) under the supervision of The CyVi Group and the University of ݮƵ.

PhD candidate, for Sustainable Chemistry and Life-Cycle Assessment,

Supervisor at UݮƵ: Steven B. Young

Research: Coupling material flows analysisand input-output tables. She is working with BRGM, the French Geological Survey, to develop innovative processes for resource management. The aimis to couple differentmethods to acquire knowledge about flows of basic metals in an economy (copper, aluminum, iron) and also precious metals (tungsten, dysprosium).
