The booth will feature fun giveaways, experiential learning activities and games such as a Brain Hat colouring exercise, and more. Come celebrate our 50th anniversary, the University’s 60th anniversary, and Canada’s 150th birthday!

Jump start your long weekend by participating in our 50th Anniversary Egg-stravaganza! 50 eggs filled with fun surprises will be hidden around the AHS Expansion Building. Keep your eye out for ten metallic eggs and one golden egg! They will contain a message with further instructions.

Once you find an egg, be sure to post a photo on Instagram* and tag @uwaterlooahs with #U��ݮ��ƵAHS. First five people to find an egg will win an additional prize. Good luck!

In collaboration with Applied Health Sciences Undergraduate Members (AHSUM), we will also be offering $5 bouquets and $2 roses to AHS undergraduate students in the AHS Expansion foyer.

The Faculty of Applied Health Sciences' (AHS) 50th Anniversary Closing Ceremony marks the end of our celebratory year. Throughout 2017-2018, we have celebrated 50 years of setting a gold standard in academic and research leadership that protects and promotes health and well-being.

AHS faculty, staff and graduate students are invited to join us for remarks followed by lunch and a farewell to Dean Jim Rush, who begins his new appointment as University of ��ݮ��Ƶ vice-president, academic and provost on July 1.

Itinerary 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Applied Health Sciences (AHS) will be undertaking a special legacy project to commemorate the Faculty's 50th Anniversary and we need your input! Now that the AHS Expansion Building is complete, we will be giving the outdoor courtyard bordered by the AHS buildings a special anniversary makeover.

On June 5, AHS will host a design charrette to solicit ideas to enhance the landscape. A design charrette is an intensive design session during which members of the AHS community will collaborate on a vision for the courtyard space. This is your space. What form and function matter to you? How would you like to see this space evolve?

AHS students, staff and faculty are invited to attend this special exercise led by Professor Rick Haldenby of ��ݮ��Ƶ’s School of Architecture. During this half-day event on campus, participants will be placed in design teams and work with graduate students from Architecture to develop their vision. The event begins at 11:30 with lunch (provided) and ends at 4:30 after group presentations. The final products from the exercise will be used to guide the re-development of the courtyard space.

To participate, please register by Friday, May 26.

The Faculty of Applied Health Sciences' (AHS) 50^th Anniversary Celebration marks the beginning of our celebratory year. Our anniversary marks 50 years of setting a gold standard in academic and research leadership that protects and promotes health and well-being. AHS students, faculty, staff, alumni and donors are invited to join us for lunch followed by celebratory remarks on AHS’ past, present and future.

50th celebration itinerary | 12 p.m. to 1:45 p.m.

Continue the celebration at the School of Public Health and Health Systems’ public lecture featuring the Honourable A. Anne McLellan, P.C., O.C., A.O.E. for a talk titled The legalization and regulation of cannabis – what does it all mean?, followed by a panel for questions and wine and cheese.

Canada is about to become the only G-20 country to legalize and regulate cannabis at the national level. This will require a transformation, both of thinking and practice. What will this mean for public health and public safety? What will a new regulated market look like?

Anne McLellan is a prominent national figure in politics, law and public health. She served four terms as the Liberal MP for Edmonton Centre, during which she was Deputy Prime Minister of Canada and Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, Minister of Health, Minister of Justice and Minister of Natural Resources. In 2016, McLellan was appointed by the federal government to lead the Task Force on Marijuana Legalization and Regulation.
