Many academic institutions automatically elevate faculty to professor emeritus status upon their retirement. At the ±«²Ô¾±±¹±ð°ù²õ¾±³Ùé de ²Ñ´Ç²Ô³Ù°ùé²¹±ô (UdeM) the process is more selective. Through an internal nomination process, a handful of former UdeM faculty are identified, vetted and eventually chosen as permanent faculty members of the 135-year-old institution.

The Department of Geography and Environmental Management has been ranked amongst the world’s elite Geography programs, placing in the top 100 of the QS World University Rankings.

Though we can’t know for sure, at this moment Anders Morley is most likely on skis, or in a tent, somewhere in the British Columbia interior. In November 2012 Morley embarked on trip that takes the concept of cross-country skiing to a literal extreme. This winter he plans to ski from British Columbia to eastern Ontario in a project he calls, Big Ski.

University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ Geography professor Richard Kelly is using the power of social media to bolster weather data from satellites with on-the-ground reporting from everyday people.

Longtime geography and environmental management professor has been honoured again for her exceptional teaching abilities. On March 28, she received a Women of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ Region (WOW) award in the education category.

Andrey also received an Ontario Confederation of University Faculty Associations Teaching Award in 2004, a Canadian Association of Geographers Award for Excellence in Teaching Geography in 2000, and a University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ Distinguished Teacher Award in 1995.
