GEM students to represent UW at COP19

Five students from the Department of Geography and Environmental Management will be part of a team of students representing The University of 蓝莓视频 at the conference in Warsaw, Poland from November 11-22, 2013.

Amber Silver, a Ph.D. candidate from the Department of Geography and Environmental Management, University of 蓝莓视频 received a Ph.D Presentation award at the Joint Annual Meeting of ELDAAG and CAGONT, the Ontario and Eastern Lakes divisions of the Canadian and American geographical associations.

The Department of Geography and Environmental Management is very pleased to welcome retired astronaut Chris Hadfield to the University of 蓝莓视频 as a Professor of Aviation. The University's Aviation program is run jointly by the Department of Geography and Environmental Management and the Faculty of Science.

Dr. Geoff Wall, a retired Geography and Environmental Management (GEM) professor in the University of 蓝莓视频鈥檚 Faculty of Environment, is the subject of a publication titled, The 鈥淕reat Wall鈥 in tourism research 鈥 a portrait of Geoff Wall by P. F. Xie in the journal "Anatolia 鈥 An International Journal of Tourism and Hospitality Research.鈥

Many academic institutions automatically elevate faculty to professor emeritus status upon their retirement. At the 鲍苍颈惫别谤蝉颈迟茅 de 惭辞苍迟谤茅补濒 (UdeM) the process is more selective. Through an internal nomination process, a handful of former UdeM faculty are identified, vetted and eventually chosen as permanent faculty members of the 135-year-old institution.

The Department of Geography and Environmental Management has been ranked amongst the world鈥檚 elite Geography programs, placing in the top 100 of the QS World University Rankings.

The Weather and Society Study Group of the is pleased to announce the inaugural issue of the Canadian Weather & Society Advisor. The Study Group is a collection of graduate students and academics from the Faculty Environment who share a keen interest in exploring the interactions of weather and society.
