The Fine Arts woodshop is located in East Campus Hall (ECH) 1227. Its hand tools and equipment are only available for use by students taking fine arts courses. Prior to a student's use of the shop, a safety course provided by one of the department’s technicians must be completed. Students must use proper safety gear (safety glasses, dust masks, etc.) and wear proper attire. Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) training is mandatory for all Fine Art students.Â
Use of the Fine Arts wood shop, metal shop, and all other facilities is exclusively for students working on current Fine Arts studio course related projects.Â
Hours
The woodshop is open 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM on weekdays during the Fall and Winter terms.

Wood shop orientation workshop
Use of the Fine Arts wood shop requires that a student first attend, and successfully complete, a wood shop orientation workshop. These workshops are only open to students taking Fine Arts studio courses. Please contact the Fine Arts Manager of Media and Studio Labs if you have any questions, or for details about how to sign-up for a workshop.
Wood shop orientation dates
- There are no scheduled wood shop workshop sessions for Spring 2025.
- The next sessions will be scheduled for September, but days are times are still TBD.
