Did you know that not all Canadians have access to safe water or reliable clean energy? Our aging infrastructure present unique challenges and we need your help to overcome them!

Come join us for a 90-minute student led workshop where you will be introduced to the Canadian Engineering Grand Challenges (CEGC) and you will be provided an opportunity to explore how engineers can envision and develop a safe and sustainable world. Through interactive activities and discussions with other students across the country, participants will take a step back and look at how each of us play a part through leadership in the ever-changing world of technology and apply the Triple Bottom Line to reimagine solutions to complex problems that face Canadians today." src="/events/profiles/uw_base_profile/modules/contrib/wysiwyg/plugins/break/images/spacer.gif" />

This workshop will be held on July 7th from 6:30 to 8:00pm EDT online through Zoom. Students who wish to participate must register through Eventbrite.

A part of the Menstrual Equity Lunch and Learn Series

In this online presentation, Courtney Wilson, MScFN RD (she/her) will dive into all things nutrition, menstruation, and hormones. We will look at how the phases of the menstrual cycle can impact physical symptoms, intake patterns, and nutrient needs and chat about strategies to support these needs. There will be time for a Q&A to ensure all your burning questions are answered.

About your host

Courtney is a Registered Dietitian (RD) and has been practicing clinically since 2015. She currently works as the RD on the Campus Wellness team, meeting with students in individual and group-based settings to provide supportive, inclusive, and evidence-based nutrition care. On the clinical side of things, Courtney is passionate about digging into food relationships and food-related experiences, as well as supporting those who may struggle with these elements of life. Personally, Courtney is an avid home cook, loves to golf, and is (just slightly) obsessed with her four-year-old Bernedoodle, Ellis.

Tim is a Co-Founder & CEO of Swap Robotics, a Kitchener-��ݮ��Ƶ based company that is the category creator of a solar robotics platform. The Economist magazine predicts that solar will become the world's #1 electricity source by the 2030's & #1 energy source overall by the 2040's. Meanwhile, VC's are saying the biggest bottleneck to AI & prosperity over the next 10 years is the ability to add new electricity to the grid quickly. Swap is speeding the transition to clean, domestic energy through its solar robotics platform, which enables utility-scale solar sites to be built & maintained faster, cheaper & more reliably. Use-cases include robotic materials staging on solar sites, robotic panel laying & robotic vegetation management. In this workshop, we’ll discuss the purpose of Q&As and defences, teach you how to prepare for questions from your audience and share strategies to ask and answer questions clearly. This workshop works best if you’re preparing for a presentation with a significant Q&A portion (like a defence). Throughout this workshop, we’ll ask you to think about your department’s defence culture, anticipate questions about your research, and practice asking and answering questions with your peers.

If you dread the Q&A portion of a presentation or defence, this workshop will help you feel more confident about giving your answers.
