Stream of study: °ä´Ç-´Ç±èÌý
Favourite co-op:ÌýI was a Student Engagement Intern at an impact investing firm based in Toronto, ON. I loved the job for a variety of reasons: values alignment, work-life balance, and the nature of the work I was doing.
Are you involved in any campus clubs?
I'm involved with a number of campus clubs, including Fossil Free UW (À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ's student divestment advocacy group), Humans of uÀ¶Ý®ÊÓƵ (a social media project based on Humans of New York), and the UW Radicle (the Faculty's student-run paper). I love that I have the opportunity and capacity to join a variety of clubs on campus, and to explore my interests while meeting like-minded people.
Why did you choose to study in the Faculty of Environment at À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ?
I chose to study in the Faculty of Environment at À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ because I was very passionate about the environment and also loved the co-op option included with my degree. I wanted to get real world, hands-on experience in many different fields while building up my academic and technical knowledge through school.
What do you love most about your program?
What I love most about Environment and Business is the unique mix of environmental studies and business administration it has. Not only am I immersed in the environment/sustainability community, but I also bring a critical and practical lens with my business background. This has equipped me well for positions in investing, policy, and the non-profit sector.
What problem would you like to solve?
I have one simple goal, and it's to do my best to help save the Earth! Ever since I can remember, I've had a fascination with the natural world. Over time, that passion evolved to a commitment to intersectional and equitable climate justice. I was drawn to the Faculty of Environment because of the amazing people in it and everything I could learn through it (both through co-op and school). I really felt like I could hone my advocacy and critical thinking skills there to help me reach my ultimate goal.
