About this tool

H5P is an online platform that allows you to build custom digital interactives to promote active learning, encourage student self-assessment, create reflection prompts and more. À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ staff and instructors can create and embed H5P interactives for free using the . The licensed version of H5P () includes learning tools interoperability (LTI) integration and is currently being investigated via the EdTech tool request process.

Features and functionality

  • H5P interactives can be embedded into most digital content, including on LEARN pages.
  • Staff and faculty can also use the studio to browse it’s catalogue for existing, Creative Commons licensed interactives that can be reused for any course or training:

LEARN integrations Free H5P interactives from H5P Studio can be embedded in LEARN but not synced with gradebook. Paid licenses through h5p.org exist and do allow synching with LMS gradebooks but are not centrally funded or supported.
Known limitations
  • Currently cannot be used for marked assessments.
  • Not all H5P interactives are accessible. For details see

  • Design support and demos are available through both the Centre for Extended Learning (CEL) and Centre for Teaching Excellence (CTE)
Privacy and security
  • No student data is shared or required to use interactives in h5p studio
  • Instructors require an eCO studio account to create new interactives
Known harms or biases
  • Not all interactives are fully accessible.
