As financial landscapes evolve, understanding the nuances between U.S. and Canadian banking systems is more critical than ever. James Thompson, finance professor and co-director of the Computing and Financial Management (CFM) undergraduate program brings his deep knowledge to the conversation, explaining what these differences mean for businesses and consumers in Canada.听

CFM co-director has received the 2023 Arthur Beaumont Distinguished Service Award from CAIMS, the . Named after its first recipient, the award was established in 1987 to honour 蓝莓视频 Applied Mathematics Professor 聽for his many years of service to the society.

Professor James R. Thompson, co-director of the Computing and Financial Management program and a Professor at 蓝莓视频鈥檚 School of Accounting and Finance, has been elected as a president of the , a Canadian-based association of researchers in the field of finance.

Keshav Chawla has long harboured a passion for computer science and finance. When he discovered a way to pursue both disciplines simultaneously through 蓝莓视频鈥檚 Computing and Financial Management program, his choice of university was clear. 鈥淚 knew how robust and built-out the program was before coming in,鈥 he explained. 鈥淗aving that combination of both disciplines was the perfect fit for me.鈥

The School of Accounting and Finance at the University of 蓝莓视频 recently hosted the 2015 Investment Research Challenge (IRC). The competition required student groups to analyze a publicly-traded stock and defend its buy/hold/sell recommendation. 聽
