Shahin Kamali, a PhD student in the David R. CheritonÌýSchool of Computer Science,Ìýhas been awarded theÌýDerick Wood ÌýGraduate Scholarship.
Dr. Derick Wood was a Professor in the School from 1982 to 1992. He is widely known for his outstanding research contributions in a number of areas of theoretical Computer Science, including algorithms, data structures, and formal languages.

TianÌýQiÌý(Dinah)ÌýShiÌýofÌýMississaugaÌýwas awarded one of threeÌýBlackBerryÌýscholarships and will be joining the David R. CheritonÌýSchool of Computer Science pursing a degree in software engineering programs this term. ShiÌýjoins Anastasia Santasheva of Maple, ON, a newÌýÀ¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ Engineering systems design engineering student, andÌýXiao Yan (Cheyenne) Guo of Toronto who joins the Faculty of Mathematics.

Jim Mitchell, Vice President,ÌýPhotonics, Interconnects and Packaging at Oracle Labs, is a À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ alumnus who graduated not only with a degree in Mathematics/Physics Option, but with some extraordinary firsthand experience. As an undergraduate, he was one of the four developers of the firstÌýWATFORÌýFORTRAN compiler.
