Derick Wood Graduate Scholarship awarded to Shahin Kamali

Shahin Kamali, a PhD student in the David R. CheritonÌýSchool of Computer Science,Ìýhas been awarded theÌýDerick Wood ÌýGraduate Scholarship.
Dr. Derick Wood was a Professor in the School from 1982 to 1992. He is widely known for his outstanding research contributions in a number of areas of theoretical Computer Science, including algorithms, data structures, and formal languages.

BlackBerry scholarship recipient joins software engineering

CheritonÌýSchool of Computer Science pursing a degree in software engineering programs this term. ShiÌýjoins Anastasia Santasheva of Maple, ON, a newÌýÀ¶Ý®ÊÓƵ Engineering systems design engineering student, andÌýXiao Yan (Cheyenne) Guo of Toronto who joins the Faculty of Mathematics.

Jim Mitchell, Vice President,ÌýPhotonics, Interconnects and Packaging at Oracle Labs, is a À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ alumnus who graduated not only with a degree in Mathematics/Physics Option, but with some extraordinary firsthand experience. As an undergraduate, he was one of the four developers of the firstÌýWATFORÌýFORTRAN compiler.
