Hans De Sterck
is an associate professor in the Department of Applied Mathematics at the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ. His area of research is computational mathematics and scientific computing, with applications to problems in science, engineering and technology. A recent research focus is to develop models and algorithms for graph and social network problems, including multilevel clustering for community detection and conflict models for the dynamics of revolutions.

He is a member of the Centre for Computational Mathematics in Industry and Commerce at the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµ, and is cross-affiliated to À¶Ý®ÊÓÆµâ€™s School of Computer Science. His research is funded by NSERC, the Province of Ontario, the Canadian Space Agency, MITACS, CANARIE, and CFI. He is associate editor of the SIAM Journal on Scientific Computing.
