'40 Under 40' honoree took over newly created role ahead of theater's $32 Million project.

Mark
Folkes
had
wanted
to
be
a
part
of
Stages
Repertory
Theatre
for
about
seven
years
before
being
named
managing
director
in
2015.
Folkes
has
been
interested
in
performing
arts
鈥
and
musical
theater
in
particular
鈥
since
he
was
a
child.
So
when
he
moved
to
Houston
about
10
years
ago,
he
started
exploring
the
city鈥檚
theater
scene.
鈥淚
was
attending
performances
at
The
Alley
and
TUTS
(Theatre
Under
the
Stars),
but
I
came
to
my
first
show
at
Stages
and
just
completely
fell
in
love
with
this
place,鈥
Folkes
said.
