In this talk\, we consider the promotion action on\n certain rectangular tableaux and explain its small\, predictable order\nby reinterpreting promotion as a rotation in disguise. We show how the\nsear ch for this visual explanation of combinatorial dynamics led to\nthe solut ion of an algebraic problem involving web bases and a\ngeneralization of t he six-vertex model of statistical physics. We find\nthat this framework i ncludes several unexpected combinatorial objects\nof interest: alternating sign matrices\, plane partitions\, and their\nsymmetry classes (joint wit h Ashleigh Adams). This talk is based\nprimarily on joint work with Christ ian Gaetz\, Stephan\nPfannerer\, Oliver Pechenik\, and Joshua P. Swanson. \n\n \n DTSTAMP:20250711T084935Z END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
