 ll look at different ways of deforming the\nmultiplicative structure of 
 “classical” algebras to obtain new\nalgebras and explain how this alge
 braic structure can often be\nunderstood combinatorially.  We’ll then l
 ook at a special class of\nalgebras one can produce this way called filter
 ed deformations and\nwe’ll discuss a conjecture of Etingof which asserts
  that in positive\ncharacteristic that filtered deformations of commutativ
 e rings should\nbe in some natural sense very close to being commutative t
 hemselves.\nNot much background will be assumed.\n
