 relies on the\npresumed hardness of problems often coming from number theo
 ry\, such as\nfactoring a large integer or solving the discrete logarithm 
 problem in\nsome group.\n\nIn this talk we focus on discrete logarithms in
  finite fields. We\nexplain what is a discrete logarithm\, why cryptograph
 ers need them\,\nand we focus then on algorithms to solve the related prob
 lem\, together\nwith open questions in this area.\n
