Ernie Regehr, O.C., is an Officer of the Order of Canada (2003) and has been awarded the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ's 50th Anniversary Alumni Award (2007), the Arthur Kroeger College Award for Ethics in Public Affairs (2011), and the Pearson Peace Medal (2011).
A graduate of the University of À¶Ý®ÊÓƵ (BA, 1968), Ernie's past academic appointments include Adjunct Associate Professor of Peace and Conflict Studies at Grebel, and a term as a Fellow at the Centre for International Governance Innovation (2008-2010). He was the co-founder of , an affiliate member of the CPA. In that role he served as an NGO rep and expert advisor on numerous Government of Canada delegations to multilateral disarmament forums.
Ernie's ongoing research aligns with the vision and mission of the CPA. Ernie is Senior Fellow in Arctic Security at the , where he regularly publishes briefing papers and reports that explore the roles and limits of military forces in supporting human security. His latest book, has be released. The book provides a timely contribution to the larger conversations about the role of diplomacy and arms control in resolving conflicts.
